I spent about a day or so at my dad’s house doing some research and going through some old books me and my brother were assigned to read either by our parents or our teachers during our elementary school years. Most of the titles we had read at the time were published by the publishing house “Rilindja” in Prishtina, Kosovo. Rilindja was also a daily newspaper—supposedly one of “great importance”. What struck me about those book covers even then was the overwhelming honesty you sense while looking at them. Those are some of the only books I still remember and a lot of it has to do with how they were designed. I particularly like this typographic series.
I also ran across a sweet catalogue that I will scan tomorrow and post here. It has a list of over 400 titles published by Rilindja.
